Long time, no post ;)

Well, when I said I wasn't sure how often I would post....I didn't realize it would take me 7 months!  Hahaha

Jeremy and I both Celebrated our 34th Birthdays!  We both had birthday parties with our friends and family!  Great Times!  There were lots of pictures taken at both parties.  Unfortunately, all the pics of my birthday were deleted off my camera????  Not sure when or how this happened.  I have a single picture of me posing with an empty shot glass wearing a sombrero just before I was about ready to go to bed on my actual B-day.  At least my mom took a few pics, but most were of the decorations :)

We went to Vegas for March Madness!  We met up with some great friends and had a blast! The highlight for me was riding the NY NY roller coaster! SCARY!  While in line, we were delayed 20 minutes due to high wind warnings...um that made us VERY nervous.  Wind can start up at anytime.  What if we are on the ride and the high winds start up again?  I thought Jeremy was going puke from nerves before we even got on the ride, but we both made it through! I screamed the entire ride. We also got to stay an extra night because of  a flight delay! Although we weren't on the strip, we enjoyed a night of just the two of us!

We have been watching a lot of TV/Reality TV the last few months.  Celebrity Apprentice, Jersey Shore, Survivor, Kardashians, Tosh.O, American Idol.  Not sure how we have time to do anything else...hahaha  I think the show that has had us on the edge of our seats the most is American Idol. That is, until our favorite (James Durbin) was voted off :(  Jeremy and I were actually voting.  Yes...we were voting many, many times for James.  I'm embarrassed to say, I think I topped out at 100 votes for one week!  We were so disappointed when he lost we were going to boycott the show for the rest of the season. Our boycott only lasted one night.  I sit here tonight watching the final two.  BUT we no longer vote.  We really don't care who wins anymore.  I think we are still a little bitter :)

It's hard to believe it is almost June!!!  June reminds me of the fact we have been officially trying to conceive a child for a year!  Although I must admit the first few months we didn't really know how much timing was involved :)  We have learned a lot this last year.  So far we have run into a few road blocks.  It has been very frustrating and disappointing. With each passing month - with no success - it seems to get harder and harder to stay positive.  We have distanced ourselves from our friends that have kids and any events that involve kids.  We are bitter and jealous of every friend and acquaintance that becomes pregnant. This month I think we are going to take a step back, be thankful for everything we have and focus on ourselves.  We have had amazing support from family and friends!  Thank You!

Well...I am signing off again.  Once again I am not sure when I will post again :)

Teacher!

Tomorrow, one of my dreams is coming true!  I will officially be a teacher!  It has only been about 5 months since I decided to put the business world behind me and pursue my dream to work with kids!  Being a teacher's aid in the 2-yr old room has been rewarding, but at the same time I have yearned to be in control of my own class!  This day has come much sooner than I thought it would!  Tomorrow, I will walk into work as the teacher of the 1-yr old room!

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit nervous at the thought of running my own  class!  I think the most challenging part will be living up to the expectations of their parents and having to discuss any concerns I might have in their child's development.  This room is also very challenging because they are not able to verbalize their wants and needs with words (unlike the 2-yr olds).  Their communication consists of laughter, crying and screaming. This communication style can be very stressful when they are all screaming and crying for different reasons at the same time, but I feel up to the challenge! There is one child that is able to use sign language...which I know VERY little :(  I told this child's mother I need to learn more signs, but was only discouraged when she said every childs signs are a little different and hard to disquinguish unless you have taught them the signs.  Maybe her mother will give me a brief tutorial on her particular signs?

I am a little sad to be leaving the 2-yr olds because I have developed bonds with all of them.  My heart melted the other day when one of the little boys was laying down for nap and I was just gathing my stuff to leave for lunch while the other teacher put the kids to sleep.  He said "Miss Amy".  I said yes, and bent down and rubbed his forehead. He looked me in the eyes and said "I love you, I love you so much".  I just about cried!  It was so sincere and so precious!  My heart melted.  There have been so many funny and sweet moments in the 2-yr old room that I have yet to document in writing...but I need to!

I must say "Thank You" to my wonderful husband for supporting my dreams and allowing me to follow though with them.  I am happier than I have ever been in life and in work!  Love you Bebe!

Hannah, Cruz, Vincent, River & Max....here I come!  (My 1-yr old class :)

Toot my own horn :)

Ok, so I am going to toot my own horn!  I don't by any means consider myself a computer "geek" or "guru". I can usually navigate myself around most minor computer problems and programs, but I am not an expert...maybe a novice at best :).  In college I took one IT class and one subject was HTML code.  Well, my blog title did not look EXACTLY how I wanted it to look (and those who know me best know I am a perfectionist), so I played around trying to figure out how I could make the "Vlach est. 2010" lower in the space provided in order to read it (on/over our wedding picture).  So I opted to try and figure out the HTML code option...and low and behold!  I did it!  Instead of being at the top of our wedding picture (which was hard to read) I was able to move it down to just above our heads on the wood beam!  Yaaay!  It took me about an hour & a half and some trial and error, but I DID IT!  I guess one college course stuck with me...hahahaha

Below is the code I altered....

Oh! I should also mention I was not/am not a grammar major or expert nor do I excel in this category, so please read for fun!  I will also throw out the disclaimer I am not a good speller either, although there is spell check so I will try harder in this category!

So, I am years behind on "blogging", but I am going to give this a shot!!!!! :)  Not sure how often this will be updated or the quality of my "blogs".  I hope at least this will be entertaining in the the lives of Vlach's est. 2010!
